Our Advocacy Program is centered around advocating for issues related to education, health, justice and human rights. Education is the key to building peaceful, inclusive societies. The inter-linkages between education, youth and culture offer important insights to understanding complex local dynamics found in fragile and post-conflict societies. Our research interests include the role of education in development context; youth empowerment through education and employment;; cultural heritage and preservation; and the role of arts and culture in promoting peace, social cohesion and good governance.
GWC provides training and mentoring services to health practitioners on health advocacy. Promoting health advocacy increases public health awareness and helps to ensure protection of health privacy. The program is specifically focused on advocating for women and children’s health and wellbeing.
GWC‘s advocacy work extends to justice and human rights which focuses on the inter-linkages of the two broad areas. Each element needs the other: an effective and fair justice system builds a better security environment, which ensures that human rights are protected. Our goal is to assist partners and stakeholders to address critical issues in the administration of justice, judicial branch capacities, and striving to build a fair system that ensures human rights protections, including promoting women’s rights.
